TWO AMHERST OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM WMASS REGIONAL POLICE ACADEMY

Patrol Officers Jose J. Diaz-Gutierrez and Matthew J. Ziomek graduated from the police academy.

Chief Scott P. Livingstone is pleased to announce that Patrol Officers Jose J. Diaz-Gutierrez and Matthew J. Ziomek graduated from the Western Massachusetts Regional Police Academy, in Springfield, Massachusetts on May 5, 2017. Patrol Officers Diaz-Gutierrez and Ziomek have begun their twelve week field officer training program.

Jose J. Diaz-Gutierrez, 27, is the son of Antonio Diaz and Rufina Diaz of Peabody, MA.  He is a 2006 graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in Peabody, MA. In 2016, Mr. Diaz-Gutierrez graduated from Salem State University in Salem, MA, earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Officer Diaz-Gutierrez enlisted in the United Stated Navy in 2007 and was a member of the Aircraft Crash and Rescue Team. He concluded his service with the Navy in February 2012. He was previously employed as a Public Safety Officer at the University of Hartford. Mr. Diaz-Gutierrez currently resides in Southwick, MA.

Matthew J. Ziomek, 23, is the son of David and Maria Ziomek of Amherst, MA. He is a 2012 graduate of Amherst Regional High School in Amherst, Massachusetts. In 2016, he graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh, NY, earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Mr. Ziomek was previously employed as a Community Service Officer for the Nantucket Police Department. Mr. Ziomek currently resides in Amherst, MA.
