Directions to the Bangs Center
The Amherst Senior Center is on the main floor of the Bangs Community
Center on Boltwood Walk. At the intersection of Route 9 (College St.)
and Route 116 (South Pleasant St.), proceed north through the traffic
light where Pleasant Streeet crosses Main St. and becomes North Pleasant Street.
Continue north to the next light and turn right on Kellogg Avenue between
the Post Office and the Unitarian Meeting House. Pass the first parking lot
on your right and take the second right into Boltwood Walk, which is also
an entrance to the new parking lot.
The main entrance to the Bangs Center is ahead on your left, and the
Senior Center is up a half flight of stairs.
You can also enter the Bangs Center from the other entrance to the
new parking garage. Both entrances are equipped with automatic door openers.
Parking
The Senior Center has free senior Parking Permits valid on the east
side of the lot beside the Ann Whalen Apartments at 33 Kellogg Avenue.
The new parking garage is now open and has ample parking at $0.50 per hour.
Additional parking is located across North Pleasant Street behind the
CVS pharmacy.

Regularly scheduled buses
UMass Transit operates the PVTA bus routes
in the Amherst area. For fee information see the
UMass Transit website.
Every route serving Amherst goes through the middle of downtown Amherst
on North Pleasant Street. Get off in front of the Post Office (northbound)
or St. Brigid’s Church (southbound). Walk down Kellogg Street to Boltwood Ave.
Schedules for all routes serving Amherst are available
on the counter in the hallway next to the Senior Center entrance in
Bangs Center or at Amherst public libraries.

Northern Tier Vans
Door-to-door transportation for people aged 60 and older is available
Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. To schedule trips, call (413) 586-3336.
ADA (Disabled) Door-to-Door Vans
If you are physically unable to use the regular buses,
as certified by your doctor (whether aged 60 and older or not),
the van service is also available on weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
