TMCC Events
Upcoming Events Important Town Meeting Related Dates – Mark Your Calendars 

The Select Board is scheduled to sign the Warrant on October 6, 2014.
The mailings to Town Meeting members are expected to be sent out to Town Meeting members on October 10 and 24.
The TMCC/LWV Warrant Review
is Tuesday October 14 in the Town Room at 7:00 pm.
The TMCC Bus Tour, if needed, is scheduled for Sunday, October 26. We do not know yet if there are places to visit related to the Warrant.
The TMCC Precinct Meetings will take place between October 20 and November 4. Specific dates and places will be posted here at a later time.
Fall Special Town Meeting begins on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Middle School Auditorium. Additional sessions, if needed, are reserved for November 12, 17, 24, December 1, 8, and 10, 2014.

Recent Events 

• The deadline for Citizen Zoning Petitions is Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Select Board Office.
• The deadline for Other Citizen Petitions is Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the Select Board Office.

Please turn in your Town Meeting Coordinating Committee Survey to the red box on the back table at Town Meeting. The survey was sent to Town Meeting members in the first mailing and is also available by clicking on this link.

2014 Annual Town Meeting began on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Middle School Auditorium. Additional
sessions, were held on April 30, May 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, and June 2, 2014.

The TMCC / LWV Warrant Review held on April 8 is available for viewing online at amherstmedia.org/meetings under "Town Meetings and Related Events". Note: unfortunately the video is missing the final 40 plus minutes due to a technical problem. Amherst Media has invited speakers to give their statements for future broadcast. Rob Crowner of the Planning Board has recorded his statement (22 min.) on the zoning articles. Vince O'Connor has recorded his statement (16 min) on Articles 38, 40-42. Feb. 4, 2014 - Deadline to sign nomination paper to have name on the ballot to run for Town Meeting - Town Clerk's Office. Do you want to become a Town Meeting member?The deadline for getting your name on the ballot as a candidate for Town Meeting was Tuesday, February 4 at 5:00pm in the Town Clerk's office. You must be a registered voter in the Town of Amherst. All it takes is 1 signature – your own to get on the ballot. Click here for more information. A write-in candidacy is still possible.
  • Mar. 3, 2014 at noon - Deadline to submit Miscellaneous Petitions to Select Board Office for inclusion on Town Meeting Warrant. See "How to File a Petition Article.

You can attend any of the Precinct Meetings regardless of where you live in town. TM members should bring their copies of the warrant and other article information they receive in the mailing.   • Zoning Question & Answer Forum hosted by TMCC & the Planning Board was Wednesday, October 30. The forum was broadcast live by Amherst Media. Have you ever wondered how Amherst's Zoning Bylaw works?
    Come to the Zoning Questions & Answers Forum. We will have a brief overview of zoning in general by Chris Brestrup and then hear about specifics of upcoming articles that will be decided at Fall Special Town Meeting. Most of the time will be for audience members to ask specific questions about zoning articles and our Zoning Bylaw. Planning Board members and petitioners will answer your questions. (Brownies will be served!)
    We welcome written & spoken questions before and during the forum. If you like, you can email questions ahead of time to . This is a Town Meeting Coordinating Committee & Planning Board event to inform Town Meeting members and the public about zoning. More info.

  • The Planning Board and its Zoning Subcommittee invited citizens contemplating submission of zoning amendment petitions for the Fall Special Town Meeting to attend the Zoning Subcommittee and Planning Board meetings on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 to present and discuss their ideas for zoning amendments prior to the submission deadline.

  • Attention Write-in candidates for Town Meeting - The deadline for getting your name on the ballot has passed, however you may still be elected by asking friends and neighbors in your precinct to write in your name when they vote on April 9.   • March 11 is the Deadline for Candidate Statements for the LWV Election Guide to be published in the Amherst Bulletin the week before the Annual Town Election on April 9. Submit statements online athttp://www.lwvamherst.org/content/respond-town-election-questionnaires . Write-in candidates may also submit candidate statements.

    Now is the perfect time for you to get involved! Because of redistricting, all 240 Town Meeting seats are up for election this spring.
  • Petition articles for Annual Town Meeting require 10 signatures. See “How to File a Petition Article” (PDF) in the TM info page at www.amherstma.gov/tminfo .
  • Attention All Current Town Meeting Members:  Due to the re-drawing of precinct boundary lines, all current town meeting members, regardless of the date their term expires, will be required to file nomination papers to have their name placed on the 2012 Annual Town Election ballot if they wish to remain in Town Meeting. Twenty-four town meeting members will be elected in each precinct. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. was the last day and hour to file nomination papers at the Town Clerk's office for Town Meeting and Town-Wide office. It only takes one signature to file a nomination paper.
