Town Meeting
The legislative body of the Town of Amherst is a Representative Town Meeting, consisting of 240 elected Town Meeting members, 24 from each of 10 precincts plus 14 ex officio members: the five members of the Select Board, the five members of the School Committee, the President of the Library Trustees, the Chair of the Finance Committee, the Moderator, and the Town Manager. Upcoming Events
- March 1, 2012 is the last day to withdraw a name from the ballot.
- March 5, 2012 at noon is the deadline to file Citizen Miscellaneous Petitions in the Town Manager's Office.
- March 14, 2012 is the last day to register to vote in Annual Town Election. Voter Registration until 8:00 p.m. at the Town Clerk's office.
- March 30, 2012 The Select Board signs the Warrant for 2012 Annual Town Meeting.
- April 2, 2012 at 12:00 NOON is the last day and hour to apply for an absentee ballot for the Annual Town Election.
- April 3, 2012 is the Annual Town Election - Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- April 10, 2012 at 7pm The TMCC /LWV Town Meeting Warrant Review will be held in the Town Room at Town Hall. This is a good way to become familiar with the warrant articles. It will be rebroadcast on Amherst Media Channel 17 and On Demand via the Internet at amherstmedia.org. (external link)
- April 22, 2012 by 2 pm TMCC Bus Tour - Town Meeting members are invited to learn about various articles on the Warrant by visiting the sites related to them. Please meet at the Middle School parking lot by 1:45 pm so the bus can leave promptly by 2 pm.
- April 11-29, 2012 Precinct Meetings - Members of Town Meeting and the public are welcome to attend any of the Precinct Meetings to discuss and share information about articles before the upcoming Town Meeting. A schedule will be posted in early April.

Annual Town Meeting begins Monday, April 30, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the
Middle School Auditorium. Additional sessions are reserved for May 2, 7,
9, 14 16, 21, 23, & 30 and June 11, 13, 18, and 20, 2012.
