Guidelines for Social Distancing in Public Parks and Trails: Updated 3/30/2020 regarding Playgrounds and Play Structures
We understand the important value playgrounds and play structures provide to our community, especially for children. However, given the current situation and the guidance from public health officials on physical distancing, limiting in-person social interactions, avoiding spaces where people congregate in close quarters, and the concerns around transmission of the virus being spread through surfaces, we have temporarily closed our town playgrounds and play structures in an effort to reduce community spread.

Please be advised the Amherst Middle School is closed to the public until further notice. This means the POOL IS CLOSEDuntil further notice as well as our business office. Please register for programs using our online registration system or call us during business hours (8:00 am-4:30 pm, Mon.-Fri.). Thank you for your cooperation during this time, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and for allowing us to serve your recreational needs. We care about our community and wish to do our best in helping prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Please be advised that the Town of Amherst is suspending all adult and youth classes that take place indoors, until further notice. This will take effect March 12, 2020. We will continue to follow all recommended actions by our public authorities. Please stay tuned for any updates on the town website and on the LSSE website. Full registration fees will be refunded, however please allow up to 4 weeks for processing. This is effective immediately.

Strategic Planning Updates:
We have concluded the community information gathering phase of our strategic planning process. We are excited to be able to continue the recreational programming needs assessment and comprehensive strategic plan into the next phase. The final plan will provide our department with a vision, mission and strategic direction for the next three to five years. Your participation has been an integral part of this process.
