The basics of the Internet, a Course for Seniors
Friday, July 15, 2022
We are offering a free five-week program teaching the basics of using the Internet for seniors. Topics that we cover include:
Searching and browsing the Internet
Sending and replying to emails, sending and opening attachments, and using Calendar
Using social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram)
Online shopping (e.g., Amazon)
Security, Phishing, and spamming
We designed the classes to be engaging and informative based on lots of exercises and discussions around this class. Both instructors were involved in teaching a similar course back at the University of Victoria in Canada for a few years.
Instructors: Professors Ali Sarvghad and Narges Mahyar. The class is run with the help of several UMass graduate students.
How to register? Call the senior center at 413-259-3060. Please bring your own devices as loaner devices are limited. Both Apple and Android systems are welcome.
