Chief Scott P. Livingstone is pleased to announce that Detective Jamie P. Reardon of the Amherst Police Department was promoted to the rank of sergeant effective April 23, 2018. Sergeant Reardon was promoted after an extensive selection process which included a written examination and interviews with Chief Scott P. Livingstone, Town Manager Paul Bockelman and Human Resources Director Deborah Radway. This promotion will fill the position that was vacated with the promotion of Lieutenant Brian Johnson.
Sergeant Reardon was appointed as a patrol officer with the Amherst Police Department on August 14, 2000. He was assigned to patrol duties until his reassignment to the detective bureau in 2011. While assigned to the detective bureau he served as the department’s liaison to the District and Superior Courts, and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. He conducted criminal investigations of major incidents and crimes and was the department’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Investigator.
During his tenure at the police department Sergeant Reardon has been a member of the Crisis Intervention Team, Search and Rescue Team, and Bicycle Patrol Unit. He has also served as a Property and Evidence Officer, Field Training Officer, Ropes Course and Youth Adventure Academy Instructor and was the department’s liaison to the Town of Amherst Social Justice Committee.
Sergeant Reardon graduated in 1991 from Northampton High School. He was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 1995 from Western New England College, Springfield, MA and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2000 from Westfield State University, Westfield, MA. Sergeant Reardon graduated in 2001 from the Municipal Criminal Justice Training Academy in Agawam, a member of the 34th Municipal Police Officer Class.
Sergeant Reardon currently resides in Belchertown with his wife, Beth and two children.
