Amherst Resident Takes Advantage of the Solar Access Program

Paulina Alenkina Solar Access Program

"This was an easy process from start to finish," said Amherst homeowner Paulina Alenkina of the Solar Access Program.  "Each step was clearly identified and I had support from all the partners" continued Ms. Alenkina at a press event held at her home on Monday, October 15th.

The Solar Access Program is funded by the Massachusetts Clean Energy center (MassCEC) and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resoures (DOER). Income eligible participants work with an energy expert to guide them through the process of purchasing solar panels and a heat pump to provide energy efficient and affordable heating and cooling.  The UMASS Five College Credit Union is providing a loan that guarantees a reduction in monthly utility bills with the first six months of loan payments made on behalf of the homeowner!

"This is a great program and opportunity for low to moderate income households who thought they may not be able to afford solar," said Amherst Sustainability Coordinator, Stephanie Ciccarello.   "I highly encourage community members to  investigate this possibility for their own home".

The program is being offered to the first one hundred income eligible and solar accessible Massachusetts residents who sign up.  To find out more information, contact CET at (413) 341-0418 or email or contact Sustainability Coordinator, Stephanie Ciccarello via email:
