Town Manager Paul Bockelman will be at the Post & Bean Cafe at the John W. Olver Design Building at 551 North Pleasant Street on the UMass Amherst campus on Friday, November 16th from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. He will be enjoying his usual cup of coffee and fantastic breakfast and he invites you to come in and talk. Parking is available in UMass parking lot #62 and additional parking on Thatcher Way or at any meter.
Paul will be joined at the Café by the Town’s Communications Manager Brianna Sunryd. Brianna is also a graduate student in the School of Public Policy at UMass. We will focus on how the Town can do a better job of listening to its residents and communicating news of the Town to the public. Your ideas are welcome!
“This is a great opportunity for us to talk to people…no appointment necessary! We are here to answer questions and listen to concerns, compliments, and, yes, complaints,” said Bockelman. “But I also would love it if people just stopped by to say hi and let us know how we – and you - are doing!”
The “Cuppa’ Joe with Paul” coffees are a regular event and will rotate around the Town. Each time, Paul will be joined by a different Town department head or official. To date, the Town Manager has held coffees at The Black Sheep Bakery and Deli with Police Chief Livingstone, Atkins Market in South Amherst with Assistant Town Manager David Ziomek, Bread and Butter in North Amherst with Planning Director Christine Brestrup, Bruegger’s Bagels with Public Works Superintendent Guilford Mooring, Kelly’s Restaurant with Fire Chief Tim Nelson, and Share Coffee with School Superintendent Mike Morris and Assistant Superintendent Doreen Cunningham, Cushman Market with Health Director Julie Federman, the Bangs Community Center with Library Director Sharon Sharry, Atkins Market in South Amherst with Comptroller Sonia Aldrich, Share Coffee with Building Commissioner Rob Morra, Kelley’s Restaurant with Police Chief Scott Livingstone, The Works with LSSE Director Barb Bilz, Cushman Market with Animal Welfare Officer Carol Hepburn, Amherst Coffee with Economic Development Director Geoff Kravitz, Kelly’s Restaurant with Principal Assessor David Burgess, Black Sheep Bakery and Deli with Town Clerk Margaret Nartowicz, Share Coffee Roasters with Police Chief Scott Livingstone, and Jakes at the Mill with Superintendent of Public Works Guilford Mooring.
