The Amherst Water Department is continuously monitoring the Town’s water supply, which is currently at a normal level for this time of year due to reduced demand over the spring months from the University, Colleges, and businesses closing due to COVID-19. Therefore, the Town is not issuing mandatory water use restrictions at this time. You can find additional information on the Town’s drinking water supply on our Water Supply Status webpage. As always, we encourage our residents and businesses to conserve water.
On July 10, the State Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs announced that the Connecticut River Valley Region will remain in Level 2 - Significant Drought designation. Continued low precipitation and warm weather in July have resulted in conditions remaining dry in the Connecticut River Valley. We will continue to provide updates on the Town’s water supply situation here and on our Water Supply Status webpage, including any announcements of water use restrictions.
