Chief Scott P. Livingstone is pleased to announce that Patrol Officers John M. Sarnacki, Daniel E. Menard, Jr., and Joseph W. Worthley graduated from the Western Massachusetts Regional Police Academy, in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 10, 2020. Officers Sarnacki, Menard, and Worthley have begun their twelve-week field officer training program.
John M. Sarnacki, 22, is the son of Michael T. and Kimberly L. Sarnacki of Granby, MA. He is a 2016 graduate of Granby High School, Granby, MA. In 2019, Officer Sarnacki graduated summa cum laude from Westfield State University, Westfield, MA, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in public administration at Westfield State University. He previously worked as an emergency medical technician with the Granby Fire Department and as a seasonal police officer for the Provincetown Police Department.
Daniel E. Menard, Jr., 23, is the son of Daniel E. and Tonya Menard of Granby, MA. He is a 2015 graduate of Granby High School in Granby, MA. In 2019, Officer Menard graduated magna cum laude from Western New England University, Springfield, MA, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He previously worked as an emergency medical technician with the Granby Fire Department and at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA as an orderly in the radiology department.
Joseph W. Worthley, 26, is the son of William B. and Lee A. Worthley of Amherst, MA. He is a 2012 graduate of Amherst Regional High School, Amherst, MA. Officer Worthley attended Westfield State University, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Holyoke Community College and is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in computer science. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2014 and served as a communications specialist assigned to H&S Company, 2nd Battalion 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, CA. Deployed twice during his military career, Officer Worthley was a member of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit serving in Djibouti, Yemen, Syria and The United Arab Emirates as part of Operation Inherent Resolve from February 2016 to September 2016 and as a member of the Unit Deployment Program serving in Okinawa, Japan from September 2017 to March 2018. He concluded his active duty status with the Marine Corps in August 2018 having advanced to the rank of Sergeant.
