Town of Amherst to Host COVID-19 Vaccination Site for First Responders, Partners with State to Serve First Responders from Amherst and Hampshire County
The Town of Amherst will host a clinic site for first responders of Hampshire County to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine. The clinic will be conducted at the Bangs Community Center, located at 70 Boltwood Walk in Downtown Amherst. This site will be for first responders in Amherst, Belchertown, Granby, Hadley, Hatfield, Pelham, South Hadley and Ware only. The Town of Amherst site is in addition to a clinic that will be held at UMass Amherst, which all first responders in Massachusetts are eligible for.
Individuals eligible to get vaccinated under state guidelines include police, fire, 911 dispatchers, and emergency medical services professionals. Pre-registration is required, and all first responders will need to show a professional ID or license confirming their status. This specific site will be for first responders in Amherst, Belchertown, Granby, Hadley, Hatfield, Pelham, South Hadley and Ware only and pre-registration will be required.

Plans developed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health call for distribution of the Moderna vaccine, which includes two doses administered 28 days apart. The second dose of vaccine will be given 28 days or later after the first. The Town has plans in place for both the first and second dose and will provide scheduling for the second dose at the first vaccination appointment.
The indoor clinic will be at the Bangs Community Center, located at 70 Boltwood Walk in Downtown Amherst, Massachusetts with parking available at the lower level of Boltwood parking garage. Strict social distancing will be enforced in addition to other safety measures. The vaccination appointments are expected to last 20 minutes, including a period following the vaccine administration for monitoring of any possible side effects or allergic reaction.

- Thursday, January 14th 9:00 am – 3:15 pm
