[ARCHIVED] Officer Rafael Guzman Joins APD


Chief of Police Scott P. Livingstone is pleased to announce the appointment of a new patrol officer to the Amherst Police Department. Rafael M. Guzman was appointed after an extensive selection process which included an interview panel, physical and psychological testing and an interview with the Chief of Police, Town Manager and Human Resources Director. 

Rafael M. Guzman, 26, is the son of Rafael Guzman and Clorae Prince. He is a 2013 graduate of Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in Cambridge, MA. In 2019, Officer Guzman graduated from Worcester State University, Worcester, MA earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. 

Officer Guzman graduated from the Western Massachusetts Municipal Police Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 12, 2017. He was previously employed as a police officer for the University of Massachusetts Worcester Police Department. Officer Guzman currently resides in Worcester, MA with his wife, Alyssa. 

Officer Guzman has started his twelve-week field officer training program at the Amherst Police Department.
