The Town Council will hold a first reading of proposed bylaw amendments to General Bylaw 3.39: Street Numbering of Houses, at the regular Town Council meeting on Monday, September 19, 2022. A second reading and potential vote is scheduled for the Town Council meeting to be held on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Unless otherwise provided by general law or this Charter, every vote adopting, amending, or rescinding a bylaw shall become effective at the expiration of 14 days after final passage or a specified later date.

3.39 – STREET NUMBERING OF HOUSES BUILDINGS

PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THE STREET NUMBER OF BUILDINGS BYLAW

Noncriminal Disposition for first violation: Warning and Correction Notice (enforcement by: Building Commissioner, Inspection Services, Fire Department)

Noncriminal Disposition for second and subsequent violations: $25 (enforcement by: Building Commissioner, Inspection Services, Fire Department)

Homeowners shall indicate the street number of the house by figures at 2-1/2 inches high and so located as to be easily seen from the street.

Building owners shall post the numeric street number of the building on the building and, if necessary to be easily seen from the public way, at an additional location easily visible from the public way, using figures at least 3 inches tall. For clarity purposes, “413A” is the appropriate posting, not “Four hundred thirteen A”.

This notice is posted in compliance with Charter Section 2.10(a), and Town Council Rules of Procedure rule 8.3.
