Notice of Public Hearing
Town of Amherst
The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has designated the Town of Amherst a Mini-Entitlement Community for the purpose of receiving Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Amherst is eligible to receive a maximum of $1,000,000 in block grant funds for housing, community development projects, and social service activities benefiting low-and moderate-income citizens. In accordance with DHCD regulations, Amherst’s CDBG Advisory Committee will hold a joint Public Hearing with the Amherst Planning Board on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Room of Town Hall to receive comments and suggestions from local residents regarding the 2012 Community Development Strategy. The strategy is a requirement as part of the Town’s CDBG application for funding, and summarizes the community’s Master Plan. The strategy helps determine:
• Priority projects and activities to be undertaken by the Town; and
• Priority target areas and neighborhoods where projects take place.
Any person or organization wishing to be heard will be afforded an opportunity. Reasonable accommodations will be attempted upon written request to the Select Board’s office two weeks prior to the meeting. Questions and written comments may be submitted to Associate Planner, Nathaniel Malloy (email@example.com).
The Town of Amherst encourages the involvement of minority business enterprises and women's business enterprises.
