The campus will be conducting a test of the UMass Amherst Alerts
Emergency Notification System (ENS) on Thursday, Dec. 1 after 1:30 p.m.
This test is part of the university's continuing effort to test,
evaluate and improve our ability to provide timely and effective
emergency notifications and warnings during a campus emergency.
The ENS test will include the UMass Amherst Alerts emergency text
messaging, broadcast e-mail and outdoor warning sirens.
Please participate in a short survey after the ENS test. The survey
results will help us evaluate our ability to provide accurate and
timely emergency notification to the campus community. The survey is
available on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 after 1:30 p.m. at

and do not receive the text message by 6 p.m. on Dec. 1, please confirm
that your cell phone number is entered correctly in SPIRE and that your
cell phone was on.

you are encouraged to register at http://www.umass.edu/alerts by
clicking on the Text Messaging tab.
FYI, It can take up to 48 hours (2 business days) to process new
emergency text message registrations.
