The deadline for the national TV broadcasting signal switch from analog to digital has been postponed to June 12, 2009. However, TV stations are not required to continue broadcasting in analog after February 17, so some stations may make the switch before the new deadline.
Important Television Disposal Information:
Older “CRT” television sets (which are heavy, bulky and typically receive analog TV signals) contain up to five pound of lead per unit and are banned from disposal in landfills. Amherst residents may dispose of them by taking them to the Amherst Transfer Station and Recycling Center (a Vehicle Sticker is required and a disposal fee applies) or by making special arrangements with your contracted waste hauler (special fees apply).
