On May 4th, 2019 the Amherst Public Art Commission will host a guided architectural tour of downtown Amherst as part of ArtWeek, a state wide celebration of the arts. The tour will be led by architect Steve Schreiber FAIA, Chair of the Department of Architecture at UMass and a Town Councilor. The tour will explore the exteriors and surroundings of old and new buildings in the central business district, and will include stops at infrequently seen places.
The tour begins at 9:00 AM on the steps of Town Hall, 4 Boltwood Avenue and runs until 10:30 AM. The rain date is May 5th. This is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes. RSVP requested although not required to email@example.com. Send any questions to the same address.

The Town of Amherst is hosting a Community Cleanup on Saturday, May 4th from 9AM-11AM. There will be three meeting locations throughout the Town, each will have an area captain stationed to organize and assist volunteers. Several Town Councilors will be serving as area captains. We will provide collection bags for trash and recycling and work gloves (please bring your own if you do have a pair). Public Works will assist with the collection of the bags after the event.
Light refreshments will be available at the Meeting Points.
Please be sure to bring drinking water and sunscreen if applicable. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to attend but will need to have a parent/guardian register and attend the event with them.
More details will be made available to volunteers after their registration.
