Mill River Recreation Area
The Amherst Senior Center is partnering with the Amherst Recreation Department to bring you two poolside movies this summer. Bring a towel and some popcorn as we fire up the projector for Jaws! Sit on the lawn or watch while you swim. Admission is free, but reservations are required for the pool. Call (413) 259-3060 to reserve a place in the pool or for more information. Movies will be shown at Mill River Recreation Area, 95 Montague Rd., Amherst, MA 01002.
We are offering a free five-week program teaching the basics of using the Internet for seniors. Topics that we cover include: Searching and browsing the Internet Sending and replying to emails, sending and opening attachments, and using Calendar Using social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) Online shopping (e.g., Amazon) Security, Phishing, and spamming We designed the classes to be engaging and informative based on lots of exercises and discussions around this class. Both instructors were involved in teaching a similar course back at the University of Victoria in Canada for a few years. Instructors: Professors Ali Sarvghad and Narges Mahyar. The class is run with the help of several UMass graduate students. How to register? Call the senior center at 413-259-3060. Please bring your own devices as loaner devices are limited. Both Apple and Android systems are welcome.
